Indicator Completed: Summer Energy Poverty for CLIMAAX Project
We are pleased to announce the completion of the Summer Energy Poverty indicator for the Municipality of Aigaleo within the CLIMAAX project. This indicator captures the inability of households to afford adequate cooling during heatwaves, combining low income, high energy costs, and inefficient housing conditions.
The indicator was developed and refined through targeted Focus Group discussions with municipal departments and NCSRD researchers, held in October 2025. These sessions linked high summer temperatures with socio-economic vulnerability and building inefficiency, highlighting energy poverty as a critical climate-induced risk.
This work provides a strong evidence base for addressing cooling needs and shaping inclusive adaptation measures for vulnerable households.
