Demokritos NCSRD is excited to share the successful completion of a key workshop under the CLIMAAX project, held in the Municipality of Aigaleo. On May 7th, 14 local stakeholders gathered to collaboratively identify and discuss the most pressing climate risks facing the community, with a focus on the social, spatial, and infrastructural impacts of heatwaves and wildfires.

Participants included municipal engineers, social services, educators, volunteer rescuers, local scouts, NGOs, trade and market associations, catering SMEs, and independent engineers. Together, they co-created a comprehensive list of risk categories, identified the most vulnerable social groups and geographic areas, and established a shared understanding and priorities to guide the technical work ahead.

This workshop’s outcomes will directly contribute to Focus Group 2, where the team will formalize new indicators to better assess and respond to climate risks in Aigaleo.

We look forward to continuing this collaborative journey toward building stronger climate resilience in the community!
