MED IREN: Learning from nature to coexist with climate change

The MED IREN project highlights the importance of nature-based solutions in addressing the increasing impacts of climate change across the Mediterranean. As the region faces rising temperatures, water scarcity, and extreme weather events, MED IREN promotes sustainable and adaptable strategies inspired by natural systems.
According to a recent ANSA article, the project brings together scientists, local authorities, and communities to develop integrated approaches for resilience. These include restoring natural ecosystems, greening urban areas, and using traditional environmental knowledge to enhance preparedness and reduce vulnerability.
Co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme, MED IREN aims to strengthen regional cooperation and inspire long-term transformation in climate adaptation planning.
