MED IREN project for climate resilience in Burgas

Published by Dimitra Panou on

The MED IREN (Mediterranean Integrated Resilience) project is playing a key role in helping the city of Burgas, Bulgaria, tackle the challenges of climate change through innovative, nature-based solutions. The project aims to enhance urban resilience, reduce climate-related risks, and promote sustainable development in coastal Mediterranean regions.

As highlighted in the ANSA article, MED IREN supports local authorities in identifying and implementing green infrastructure, improving knowledge-sharing across borders, and involving citizens and stakeholders in the co-creation of adaptation strategies.

This initiative is part of a broader European effort to strengthen local climate resilience and is co-funded by the Interreg Euro-MED programme. Burgas is one of the pilot cities leading the way in demonstrating how collaborative climate action can make a measurable impact at the local level.
