🔥 Fire Risks and Climate Change in Greece

We’re excited to share our new Story Map that highlight the number of days each year when the Fire Weather Index (FWI) exceeds the threshold (i.e. the 90th percentile) indicating extreme fire risk conditions . Areas with more frequent exceedances face heightened wildfire danger, reflecting the growing impact of climate change on fire-prone weather patterns. The map offers a clear visual of emerging hotspots, guiding preparedness and response strategies.
