A new CLIMAAX deliverable presents the initial Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) for the Municipality of Aigaleo, developed within the framework of the Clisthenes project. The study highlights the growing risks faced by socially vulnerable communities, with urban heatwaves and wildfires identified as the main hazards. Vulnerability hotspots include Eleonas, neighborhoods adjacent to Aigaleo Grove, and dense residential zones near Kifissos Avenue, Petrou Ralli, and Athinon Avenue. The assessment combines GIS and climate station data (TransformAr), stakeholder input, and CLIMAAX workflows (EuroHEAT and FWI), supported by internal training of 20 municipal staff. Early findings show that, under high-emission scenarios, heatwave frequency could increase by up to 140%, underscoring the urgent need for equitable adaptation measures. These results will support the refinement of Aigaleo’s Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) and the co-creation of a dedicated adaptation strategy with practical, community-driven resilience measures.
