This event marks the beginning of a groundbreaking initiative to <strong>climate-proof Mediterranean critical infrastructures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>The <strong>Med-IREN (Mediterranean Critical Infrastructure Resilience Engineering with Nature-based Solutions)<\/strong> project focuses on enhancing climate risk management and ensuring the businesas continuity of essential infrastructure across sectors such as energy, transport, water, ICT, and social services. By introducing <strong>Nature-based Solutions (NBS)<\/strong>, the project will showcase how to mitigate climate change impacts and build resilient infrastructures in the Mediterranean, a recognized climate hot-spot.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Key elements of the Med-IREN project include:<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:list -->\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Five lighthouse regions in the Mediterranean, representing current challenges, aligned with regional policies.<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\n\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Replication of solutions in four additional regions, covering the Mediterranean, Black Sea, and Boreal regions.<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\n\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Integration of <strong>participatory governance<\/strong>, <strong>citizen engagement<\/strong>, and <strong>innovative financing mechanisms<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<!-- \/wp:list-item -->\n\n<!-- wp:list-item -->\n<li>Development of a high-end <strong>digital decision-making support toolset<\/strong> that integrates data, cutting-edge models, and advanced visualization
