{"id":2575,"date":"2025-06-05T15:25:38","date_gmt":"2025-06-05T15:25:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/climaerel.ipta.demokritos.gr\/?p=2575"},"modified":"2025-06-06T12:53:25","modified_gmt":"2025-06-06T12:53:25","slug":"advancing-climate-adaptation-through-interoperable-digital-twins-highlights-from-the-joint-climate-adapt-4-eosc-fair2adapt-workshop-at-egi2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/climaerel.ipta.demokritos.gr\/index.php\/2025\/06\/05\/advancing-climate-adaptation-through-interoperable-digital-twins-highlights-from-the-joint-climate-adapt-4-eosc-fair2adapt-workshop-at-egi2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Advancing Climate Adaptation through Interoperable Digital Twins: Highlights from the Joint Climate Adapt 4 EOSC &amp; FAIR2Adapt Workshop at EGI2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On 3rd of July, a joint workshop was held in Santander during the #EGI2025 Conference, co-organised by <strong data-start=\"103\" data-end=\"127\">Climate Adapt 4 EOSC<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"132\" data-end=\"154\">FAIR2Adapt-EOSC<\/strong>, bringing together experts to discuss data-driven approaches for climate change adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udc65 With over 20 engaged participants, the event sparked meaningful discussions on data interoperability and digital tools for climate change adaptation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udd39 A highlight for <strong>Climate Adapt 4 EOSC<\/strong> was the presentation by <strong>Thanasis Sfetsos (NCSR &#8220;Demokritos&#8221;)<\/strong>, project coordinator, who introduced the <strong>Use Case 1 (UC1)<\/strong>: the <strong>Just-CURS<\/strong> service\u2014our citizen-informed digital twin designed to tackle urban heat risks. The case of <strong>Aigaleo<\/strong> was showcased as a real-world example of integrating local data, stakeholder input, and advanced modelling to support equitable climate resilience planning in cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The workshop also featured keynotes and case studies from partner projects, and concluded with thematic discussions on semantic interoperability and the legal-organisational challenges of integrating climate data across EOSC and federated data spaces.
