{"id":2785,"date":"2025-08-26T23:23:35","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T23:23:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/climaerel.ipta.demokritos.gr\/?p=2785"},"modified":"2025-08-26T23:23:38","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T23:23:38","slug":"new-publication-multi-hazard-scenarios-of-extreme-compounded-events-at-the-local-scale-under-climate-change","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/climaerel.ipta.demokritos.gr\/index.php\/2025\/08\/26\/new-publication-multi-hazard-scenarios-of-extreme-compounded-events-at-the-local-scale-under-climate-change\/","title":{"rendered":"New Publication: Multi-Hazard Scenarios of Extreme Compounded Events at the Local Scale Under Climate Change"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are pleased to announce that a new publication authored by  <strong>Athanasios Sfetsos<\/strong>, <strong>Nadia Politi<\/strong> and <strong>Diamando Vlachogiannis<\/strong>, researchers from the <strong>Environmental Research Laboratory (EREL) of NCSR \u201cDemokritos\u201d<\/strong> has been published in the international peer-reviewed journal <em>Atmosphere<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This work introduces a methodology for assessing <strong>multi-hazard scenarios of extreme compounded events<\/strong> and their duration using <strong>high-resolution climate simulations<\/strong> for both historical and future periods under the <strong>RCP8.5 climate change scenario<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Focusing on selected locations in Greece, the study investigates <strong>20- and 50-year return levels<\/strong> of hazards occurring within specific timeframes and in combination with concurrent extremes of other surface variables.
